Some situations need a different kind of response.
Beyond ER is non-clinical support and is not an emergency or crisis service. The resources below should be used when ordinary ER support is not the appropriate next step.
Call 911
Use 911 for immediate physical danger, medical emergencies, fire, violent emergencies, or situations requiring urgent physical response.
Call or text 988
In the U.S., 988 provides specialized support for suicide, mental-health, and substance-use crises by call or text.
ER does not replace either service.
An ER Support Specialist may help route someone toward an appropriate resource, but ER does not provide emergency response, diagnosis, or crisis counseling.
What happens if a safety concern appears during an ER Session?
The ordinary support flow pauses. The Specialist can involve an ER Safety Lead and help direct the participant toward the appropriate crisis, emergency, medical, professional, or community resource. Paid support billing is designed to stop when the conversation becomes an emergency/safety handoff rather than ordinary ER support.
